2008 AIA Seminars
- Sustainable Commercial Interiors
- Lecture by: Armstrong World Industries
10:00 am - 11:00 am
This instructor-led seminar addresses “green" building and provides examples of green products. Participants will learn how to select “green” interior finishing products, and to discuss the major standards and guidelines that influence “green” building today. Key standards and guidelines specific to your area will also be addressed. Participants will be able to define LEED and learn how interior finishes contribute to LEED for commercial interiors. Finally, the seminar reviews life-cycle assessment as it relates to “green” products and design.
- Metal Framing and Flooring
- Lecture by: Dietrich Metal Framing
11:15 am - 12:15 pm
This course provides an in-depth analysis of the two major ASTM standards that govern the manufacture and installation requirements of interior nonstructural steel framing members. It also reviews gypsum board installation and mechanical bridging methods. The course concludes with an examination of a commonly specified fire-rated partition.
- Complementary Lunch - 12:00 p.m.
- Substrate Prep and Moisture Testing
- Lecture by: Combi-Mix/Independent Floor Testing & Inspection (IFTI)
1:15 pm - 2:15-pm
Billions are spent each year due to flooring failures as a result of excess moisture in concrete. Proper moisture testing must be preformed prior to flooring installations in order to achieve project success.
